Boil notice for Sawgrass area in Ponte Vedra

Posted on 12/03/2009 By Historic City News 1 Comment on Boil notice for Sawgrass area in Ponte Vedra

Jason Rickards, MFRC, PWS, Utility Department Compliance Coordinator, reported to Historic City News that a precautionary Boil Water Notice has been issued for the entire Sawgrass Development in Ponte Vedra.

All streets within the Sawgrass Development east of A1A South, including the country club, are affected by this notice.

The St. Johns County Utility Department has reported that a water main break occurred last night impacting an estimated 2,000 homes. Crews are on-site repairing the lines at this time. The water is shut off and the time that water will be returned to the development is not yet known.

Under the Precautionary Boil Water Notice, all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes should be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. As an alternative bottled water may be used.

The Precautionary Boil Water Notice will remain in effect until bacteriological surveys show that the water is safe to drink and a retraction notice is posted, which is typically a minimum of two days.

Citizens may call (904) 209-2731 for updated information or visit our website at www.sjcutility.us. Boil Water Notice signs have been posted at the development entrance. Furthermore, the local media has been notified.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
