Historic City News has learned that at last Tuesday’s meeting of the county commissioner, the board adopted the 2010 Legislative Action Plan; a focused list of issues for which the County seeks assistance from our state and federal delegations.
County Administrator Michael Wanchick said “County staff will work with our state and federal lobbyists on these items and the Commission Chair will present them at the annual St. Johns County State Legislative Delegation Meeting on Thursday, November 12th, at 4:00 p.m. in the County Auditorium.”
This year’s list included eleven key items:
Wanchick says he is pleased to report progress on several items from last year’s legislative plan.
“Funding for transportation projects allowed us to begin improvements at County Road 210 and I-95, and funding has also become available for FDOT to construct the Duval portion of State Road 9B”, according to the County Administrator.
Last year’s plan addressed beach re-nourishment and septic tank replacements in St. Augustine Beach and have received state and federal funding. Two amendments to Florida Statutes have also helped St. Johns County by providing revenue streams for court facilities and the Transportation Disadvantaged Trust Fund.
