The Flagler College Public Administration Program has reported to Historic City News that they will be hosting the 2009 Conference for Local Government this Friday, February 27th at the Ringhaver Student Center.
The theme for this years conference will be “Managing Change in Challenging Times” and will feature panelists from several area government agencies with moderation provided by members of the public administration staff.
Topics being discussed include current challenges and best practices, introducing innovation and improving efficiency through the best uses of technology, Florida’s environment and the priorities for local government and a final session on attracting and retaining high quality employees.
Panelists scheduled to present include Clay County Manager Fritz Behring, Jacksonville City Council President Ronnie Fussell, Palm Coast City Manager Jim Landon, Jacksonville Fire Rescue Chief Charles Moreland, Clay County Property Appraiser Roger Suggs, Palm Coast Director of Information Technology Courtney Violette, St. Johns River Water Management District Communications and Governmental Affairs Director Jeff Cole, Northeast Florida Regional Council CEO Brian Teeple, St. Johns County Administrator Michael Wanchick, Palm Coast Director of Human Resources Wendy Cullen, Attorney John Dickinson and International Association of Firefighters Local 122 President Randy Wyse.
Moderators will be Dr. Don Berglund, Dr. Joe Saviak, Alice DeMent and Joel Bolante.
Wayne McClain, President and CEO of Putnam State Bank is scheduled to present a keynote address during a lunch sponsored by Flagler College.
Closing remarks for the conference will come from St. Johns County Sheriff David Shoar followed by a reception in the Virginia Room.
