Posted on 02/07/2009 By Historic City News 2 Comments on Foul play suspected in woman’s death

An autopsy by District Medical Examiner Dr. Terrence Steiner will determine the cause and manner of death in the discovery of a 92-year old Ponte Vedra Beach woman found in her home Friday evening according to a report from Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw that was received by Historic City News today.

Detectives with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Alyce Bowles, 92, 607 Alhambra La. North in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Deputies responded to the Bowles residence in Sawgrass at 9:15 p.m. yesterday after a friend of the victim found her inside and contacted the Sheriff’s Office.

Although the results of the autopsy will not be immediately available, Kelshaw reported that foul play is suspected.

If you have information concerning this investigation or if you may have seen anything suspicious at or near the victim’s home between 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. you are asked to contact Detective Kevin Roberts at the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office at 824-8304. You can remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward by calling CrimeStoppers at 1-(888) 277-TIPS (8477).
