Mooring field hearing December 14th

Historic City News noted concerns expressed by several residents that “there are still many questions to be answered,” however, the St. Augustine City Commission voted Monday night to advance the proposed harbor management plan to a public hearing and final action.

Without further ado, at its December 14th meeting, the harbor management plan and mooring fields will be aired, approved, modified or declined by the commission; despite public concerns and a request to delay until after the holidays.

“There have been four public workshops and discussion over the past three years,” Vice Mayor Errol Jones said. “I don’t see the need to delay this process.”

City Manager Bill Harriss assured commissioners that details of expected costs and proposed fees would be presented at the December meeting.

Proposed are 178 moorings in the bay and Salt Run.

The preliminary installation estimate is $2,500 each; a total of $445,000.
