Posted on 12/01/2009 By Historic City News

St. Augustine Police Department Community Affairs Officer Barbara Clifford reported the following recent investigations to Historic City News.

Police responded to the YMCA building located at 500 Pope Road on Sunday to investigate the theft of a hand carved wooden sign.

Upon arrival, Corporal Charles Simpson made contact with the manager who reported that he first noticed the entrance sign was missing when he was driving into the parking lot.

The cost to replace the sign is approximately $300. There was nothing else missing and no damage to the property was reported.

Clifford stated that the investigation is ongoing.

Yesterday after lunch, Police responded to the 25th block of Hope Street to investigate the theft of a laptop computer.

Upon arrival, Officer Jessica Pedonti made contact with the victim who advised she kept her Toshiba laptop computer, valued at $400, next to her bed.

The victim stated that she had been out of town for a few days.

When she returned home, she noticed her front door unlocked and her laptop computer missing.

According to the report, the computer was the only item missing from the home.

Clifford stated that this investigation is ongoing, as well.
