Pub and package store takes shape

Historic City News has learned that a new pub and package store is under construction along the bayfront.

The new building in on the former “Bay Bags” site — opposite the Castillo de San Marcos.

The site backs up to the Colonial Spanish Quarter and is adjacent to a planned sightseeing vehicle stop according to reports from the city.

The property was on the market for a long time in the $700,000 range and, according to property records, sold last November to Warren Merrill of Jacksonville for $620,000.
