George Gardner reports that Public Affairs Director Paul Williamson recently won commission approval to delay any further applications for use of Francis Field until a management plan can be developed.
Williamson said his staff is anticipating more organizations bidding for the use of Francis Field on Castillo Drive, so he will meet with event organizers and associations representing adjacent neighborhoods and business districts to develop both a mission statement and management plan for the site.
“With this year pretty well set, this is a good time for our staff to study the demands and capabilities.” Williamson said.
Already scheduled and traditional annual events won’t be affected by the six-month moratorium, according to Williamson.
