Historic City News readers are being asked to assist St. Johns County Sheriff David B. Shoar to locate the man depicted in this image taken from a surveillance video located at the scene of an early morning armed robbery attempt.
Deputies responded to the CVS pharmacy and store located on SR-312 after receiving the call at about 2:15 a.m., this morning.
The 42-year old male employee told deputies that the would-be robber came into the store and purchased a lollipop.
Following the purchase, the victim stated that the suspect ordered him to “open the drawer”.
When the victim asked him “why” the suspect threatened him and implied that he had a weapon — although it was not seen.
The suspect reached over the counter, grabbed the phone, and then threw it at the victim.
The suspect walked to the adjacent counter, jumped over it, and then began to chase the employee.
The victim was able to run away. The suspect walked out of the store. There were no injuries reported.
The suspect was described as a black male with short hair wearing a white long sleeve Under Armor shirt and black jogging pants.
A search of the area did not locate the suspect.
