St. Augustine Police reported to Historic City News that a traffic stop of a white BMW was conducted at about 10:30 p.m. last Friday night by officer Michael Kettman; after he observed the vehicle run the stop sign at Dumas and Bridge Street.
According to police, during the interview, the driver, 33 year-old Willie James Borom, Jr., who resides at 805 West 11th Street, was acting nervous and kept digging around in the vehicle.
A drug-sniffing K-9 unit arrived on the scene and “alerted” on the area near the steering wheel.
When Kettman checked that area, he found a bag containing 12 smaller bags of a substance that tested positive for marijuana and 35 pills that tested positive for ecstasy.
Borom was taken into custody — his vehicle, and $911 found inside, were seized.
Borom was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to sell within 1000 feet of a church and possession of ecstasy with the intent to sell within a 1000 feet of a church.
Borom remains in custody in lieu of $300,000 bond.
