Local St. Augustine reporters at Historic City News have learned that Monday evening, Police Officer Michael Kettman responded to a call of an attack on a school bus driver at the intersection of Ponce de Leon Boulevard and King Street.
A witness to the attack said that he saw a white Jeep stopped behind the bus.
According to the witness, he observed a man with short, curly blonde hair, wearing a white V-neck shirt; step out of the passenger side of the Jeep and walk up to the bus driver’s open window.
The unknown subject then punched the driver in the face and ran back to the Jeep.
The blow to the driver’s face caused a laceration over his left eye that required stitches.
Rescue arrived on scene and treated the bus driver.
The driver refused to be transported to the hospital because the bus was filled with children.
As he was writing a sworn statement regarding the incident, he passed out.
Community Affairs Officer Barbara Clifford of the St. Augustine Police Department reports that paramedics transported the victim to Flagler Hospital and police released the bus to another driver.
