Local Historic City News reporters have been notified that consumer directory, Relocate America, has named St. Augustine one of the “Top 100 Places to Live in 2010”.
Relocate America offers relocating consumers a directory of over 6,000 national community profiles to research and review useful information about the local housing market, the culture of each community, activities and local businesses. Featuring community-specific relocation resources and links to knowledgeable local real estate experts ready to assist with an upcoming relocation.
The website noted St. Augustine’s preservation efforts, the historic tourist attractions, waterways, long family histories, major employers and varied lifestyles as attributes of the community in making its decision.
The highly publicized “America’s Top 100 Places to Live” recognizes communities nominated by their residents as a “great place to live”, based on details about the neighborhoods, beauty of the area, school performance, recreational activities and economic growth.
In defining the top 100 cities, Relocate America focused on communities poised for recovery and future growth through strong local leadership, employment opportunities, thriving community commitment, improving real estate markets, growing green initiatives, plentiful recreational options and an overall high quality of life, according to the company’s website.
The nation’s oldest city was one of four in Florida to make the top 100. The others were Oviedo, Sarasota and Tampa.
The top 10 cities were Huntsville, Al.; Washington D.C.; Austin; San Diego; Tulsa, Ok.; Charlotte, NC; Raleigh, NC; Boulder, Co.; and Minneapolis.
