St. Johns River Community College told local Historic City News reporters that administrators, faculty and staff recently gathered to honor students for their academic achievements and participation in St. Augustine campus activities.
Ashley Pacetti, Aubrie Simpson and Joshua Thompson were recognized as the 2010 inductees into the SJRCC Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame award is presented each year to a select number of students who are recommended by the faculty for their academic excellence and extracurricular involvement.
Students recognized for Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges were: Timothy Dowen Jr., Richard Fife, Mark Lechak, Zachary McCorkle, Kenneth Maxwell II, Benjamin McNulty, Ashley Pacetti, Michael Pawlukiewicz, Aubrie Simpson, James Stam, Joshua Thompson
The ceremony also provided an opportunity for students to express their gratitude and appreciation to the faculty and staff at the St. Augustine Campus. The SJRCC Student Government Association presented Caryn Register with the Professor of the Year award. This is the first year that an adjunct instructor has received the award. Register teaches English and is an SJRCC alumna.
The SJRCC Student Government Association presented Mario Rosario and Tim Mouse with the Heimdall Award for outstanding service to the association. “I think it speaks volumes about our students and our staff when the dedicated members of our maintenance department are recognized by the student body,” said St. Augustine campus Provost Glen Moore, Ph.D.
Richard Fife and Aubrie Simpson were also recognized for the All-USA Academic Team. Two applicants per campus are nominated each year for the Phi Theta Kappa honor society award.
SJRCC’s active campus life is an open door for students to meet new people and take part in a dynamic teamwork and leadership capacity in clubs and organizations. These clubs and organizations provide extracurricular activities on campus and an opportunity for the students to participate in community service projects.
