Local St. Augustine reporters at Historic City News have learned that sometime after 9:30 p.m. Saturday night and before Sunday morning about 10:30 a.m., catalytic converters were stolen from cars parked in a local hotel parking lot.
Police Officer William Protami responded to the Holiday Inn located at 1302 North Ponce de Leon Boulevard on Sunday to interview two victims who say that catalytic converters, worth an estimated $1500 each, were unbolted and taken off the exhaust systems of their cars.
Each victim was driving a 2008 Hyundai Veracruz. When they woke up Sunday morning, they discovered the thefts.
Community Affairs Officer Barbara Stevens of the St. Augustine Police Department reports that the investigation is ongoing.
