The local St. Johns County news desk of Historic City News has received word from SJSO Sgt. Chuck Mulligan that the Traffic Section and Youth Resource deputies will be conducting a countywide DUI enforcement patrol this weekend.
Deputies with the Traffic Unit, along with the Youth Resource Deputies, will be focusing on impaired driving reduction and apprehension, as well as, identifying activities which may lead to the impaired driving of those under 21 in an effort to reduce traffic crashes and the injuries that accompany them.
Awareness efforts such as media briefings and postings to our website will be made available prior to each enforcement detail, throughout the year, in the hope that designated drivers, alternative transportation and the reduction of underage drinking become the chosen paths in St. Johns County.
The initial effort of 2010 is scheduled for the weekend of January 15 thru 16, with a minimum of one detail a month to follow throughout the year. Dates will be announced as they are scheduled and will consist of both mobile patrols as well as DUI Checkpoints.
