St. Johns River Community College announced to local Historic City News reporters that 42 students were recently recognized for completing the college’s Educator Preparation Institute program.
In order to participate in the program, applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and possess the disposition suitable for becoming a teacher.
The process to earn a Florida Professional Teaching Certificate is streamlined for participants who pass the Florida Teacher Certification Exam and submit the required paperwork to the Florida Department of Education.
No other coursework is required, and, the program that was developed in 2006 can be completed in less than a year – on campus or online.
The St. Johns County program graduates are Margo Almony, Michael Arnold, John Barr, Wayne Beck, Jean Beymer, Mikel Colakoglu, Laura Dey, Caroline Dow, Carrie Fihe, Jill Flores, Betsy Gailbreath, Sherri Hartwell, William Hidalgo, Kristin Jasper, Rosablanca Matteo, Casey Meehan, Scott Miller, Marilee Rimes, William Rodish, Jacklyn Smith, Sharon Sullivan and Phillip Summers.
The Clay County program graduates are Aileen Ilagan, Amber Owens, Cynthia Masters, Karen Meyer, Gale Shultz, Heather Smith, Leia Smith and Amy Wilson.
The Putnam County program graduates are Suzanne Beck and Laura Parker.
The Duval County program graduates are Joshua Bice, Brandyn Bottin and Jacqueline Jardim-Conrad.
Program graduates from other counties are Catherine Baham, Richard Bell, Justin Emerson, Abby King, Michael Montalbano, Rodney Smith III and Rebecca Witte.
