Historic City News received word today that Governor Charlie Crist has appointed 51 year-old T. Martin Fiorentino Jr. of Ponte Vedra Beach to succeed Allan Bense as a member of the Board of Florida’s statewide economic development organization.
Fiorentino will serve a term beginning December 28, 2010, and ending July 11, 2014, subject to Senate confirmation.
Fiorentino received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Florida and his law degree from Mercer University. He is an honorary member of Florida Blue Key and a member of the Florida Bar.
Active in politics, Fiorentino was most recently the Florida Finance Co-Chair for Senator John McCain’s Presidential campaign, raising over $1 million. Upon his election, Governor-elect Charlie Crist named Fiorentino Finance Chairman of his Inauguration. He was on the National Finance Committee for the George W. Bush Presidential Campaign and Co-Chairman of the Northeast Florida Bush-Cheney Campaign.
Active in the community, Fiorentino is a past Chairman of the Baptist Health System Foundation, Inc. He has served on the Board of Directors of Baptist Beaches Medical Center, Florida TaxWatch, the Florida Governor’s Mansion Foundation, Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, First Coast Metropolitan Planning Organization, Alliance for World Class Education, Board of Trustees of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, and the Drug Free America Advisory Board.

Also appointed was 52 year-old Scott Peelan of Winter Park who is managing partner with Moreno Peelan Ruggie Pinto Clark LLC. Peelan will succeed Henry Rodriguez, subject to Senate confirmation, and has been appointed for a term beginning December 28, 2010, and ending July 11, 2014.
