Flagler College Magazine wins CASE award

Flagler College Magazine editor and Public Information Director Brian Thompson reported to Historic City News that they have won a CASE Special Merit award from in the competition’s magazine category.

The Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) also recognized Berry College, Furman University, University of Kentucky of Arts & Sciences and the University of South Carolina as winners of a Special Merit award.

Grand award finalists included Mississippi College, Ringling College of Art and Design, University of Miami College of Arts & Sciences, Vanderbilt University College of Arts and Science and Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

This is the second award in the past year for the magazine, which primarily goes to the college’s alumni and has a circulation of 20,000. The publication also won a platinum award in the 2009 MarCom Awards’ magazine/educational institution category. The MarCom Awards is an international competition for marketing and communication professionals.

“To win a second award is just amazing and highly rewarding for everyone who worked on it,” said Thompson. “We’ve always focused on telling great stories about unique and interesting students, alumni and faculty. So this is exciting to be rewarded for that hard work.”

Jodi Peeler, Assistant Dean of External Relations, Pharmacy at Campbell University is the awards chair for District III, which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. District III is the second largest district in the CASE family with more than 4,000 members.

Peeler says that each of CASE’s North American districts offer awards programs to recognize and celebrate outstanding programs and individuals. District awards honor everything from annual reports to Web sites, distinguished service to new professionals, and everything in between.
