Jeremy Robshaw, Public Information Officer with St. Johns County Fire Rescue, informed Historic City News local reporters that two men have been arrested and are charged with felony arson.
St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire early Saturday morning in the 4500 block of Alvin Street which is located in Flagler Estates.
Upon arrival at the scene, crews found a single wide mobile home with heavy smoke and flames showing from the structure and a nearby detached shed. Firefighters were informed that the structure was vacant.
Firefighters extinguished the fire without incident containing the damage to two rooms within the structure. Damages are estimated at $15,000.
As a result of the investigation conducted by St. Johns County Fire Rescue and the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the cause of the fire was determined to be arson. Multiple suspects were identified and questioned by investigators.
Thanks to the quick work and cooperation of both the State Fire Marshals Office and St. Johns County Fire Rescue investigators, one suspect was arrested late Saturday afternoon and a second suspect was arrested early today.
The suspects, 21 year-old Armando Giovani Sanchez and 20 year-old Eric John Wilcox, were booked into the county jail and each is charged with 1st Degree Arson.
