Local St. Augustine reporters at Historic City News have learned that about 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning, Police Corporal Kevin Schmoll responded to the 100 block of Gaillardia Loop to investigate the disappearance of a handgun.
The victim told police that he usually keeps his .32 cal semi-auto pistol in the center console of his vehicle, however, when he went to look for it last week, it was missing.
The victim searched his vehicle and home and was unable to locate the weapon, which he believes has been stolen.
Saying that he does not enter his console regularly, he is unsure when, exactly, the firearm went missing — or if the vehicle was locked at the time.
Community Affairs Officer Barbara Stevens of the St. Augustine Police Department reports that the investigation is ongoing.
