“We are always open the last Saturday of the month, from 8:30 a.m. till 12 noon,” said St. Johns County Tax Collector Dennis W. Hollingsworth, CFC. “However, we like to make sure residents know that this service continues even on holiday weekends, and especially when residents can receive a 4 percent discount by paying their taxes prior to December 1st.”
Additionally, curbside tax payment service will be available from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. at the Main office in St. Augustine beginning Monday, Nov. 29 and continuing through Tuesday, Nov. 30.
Curbside payments can only be made in the form of check, cashier’s check or money order. No cash will be accepted at the curbside location, which is located on the circular drive just east of the Tax Collector office and has been manned by Tax Collector employee Don Wester for many years.
Since Christmas Day is the last Saturday in December, the St. Augustine office will hold its monthly Saturday hours on Dec. 18.
Tax bills are due through March 31, 2011, before they are considered late or delinquent. The greatest savings can be had by those who pay their bills by Nov. 30, who are entitled to a 4 percent discount. The discount reduces by one percent each month through Feb. 28. No discount is applied to payments in March.
