St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw reported to Historic City News that the Sheriff’s A.C.E. Program is sponsoring the 10th annual Horror Zone this Halloween season.
The Horror Zone will be open during the last three weekends in October (Friday-Sunday) from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the former Mikee’s store, located in the Food Lion shopping center at 2497 US-1 South and Lewis Point Road.
“Deputies and other volunteers have taken nearly six weeks to set up one of the finest haunted houses in the area and this year could be the biggest ever,” Kelshaw said.
Among the special effects are a vortex tunnel, a moving cart, a rocking hallway, and even some brand new technological surprises.
Kelshaw told Historic City News that fans of the annual Halloween event have come from as far away as Tampa and Tallahassee and, at peak times, guests will gladly wait for hours to enter the haunted house.
The most “Spooktacular” Haunted House in St. Augustine takes between 10-12 minutes to experience.
The hours of “The Horror Zone” will be from 6:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. on all nine nights. Admission is just $8.00 for ages 13 and over and $6 for those youngsters 12 and under. Additional family discounts are available. All of the proceeds will go to the Sheriff’s Office A.C.E. programs.
