Sgt. Chuck Mulligan contacted the St. Johns County news desk at Historic City News to report that the Anderson family has established a memorial fund; intended to provide an education for Deputy Anderson’s two younger children.
Anderson was struck, head-on, by a driver of a Honda Element — going north in the southbound lanes of State Road 9A in Duval County. Anderson died from traumatic injuries sustained in that accident while driving his patrol car to work.
Anderson is survived by his wife and four children; he was 44 years old.
The fund has been established at Community First Credit Union.
No account number is necessary to donate to the fund and any branch can accept a donation to the “James L. Anderson Memorial Fund”.
