Dear Editor:
I wish I could call you right now so you could hear what we hear at 11:30 p.m.
. . . and last night, too.
I called the non-emergency number for the St. Augustine Police Department last night at 10:15 p.m and tonight at 11:30 p.m.
As a lifetime Florida resident and a St. Augustine-Davis Shores resident for 16+ years, I say this is nothing but “good ole boys”.
The dispatcher disagreed when I said my husband and I are paying taxes for the police officer who was “hired until midnight.”
So does that mean they can ignore the ordinances other residents adopted?
Yes, my taxes pay every day and night for the filthy air from the Conch House parking lot and the drunks cursing and vomiting and urinating, and yes, even defecating, in our yards. Also, they are stealing our sign.
Nice job. I just want to be able to go to sleep at a decent hour. I’m not talking about 9:00 o’clock.
Are a private party or a yacht exempt from the noise ordinances??
I don’t think so.
Please explain.
Resident
St. Augustine, FL
