St. Johns County Fire Rescue Public Education and Information Officer Jeremy Robshaw informed local Historic City News reporters that at about 2:45 a.m. this morning, members of the City of St. Augustine Fire Department assisted County Fire Rescue personnel at the scene of a commercial structure fire on Vilano Beach.
Upon arrival at the Magic Beach Motel located east of SR A-1-A at 50 Vilano Road, crews found a single story motel building with smoke and flames showing from a carport and sidewalk overhang.
Firefighters aggressively attacked the fire and were able to contain it within 15 minutes of their arrival. Firefighters completed a search of the structure and found no additional fire or any occupants.
“The flames were contained to the roof area covering the front walkway and a covered carport,” Robshaw told Historic City News. “In total six fire apparatus and 15 personnel responded to the scene.”
There were no injuries reported during this incident and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by St. Johns County Fire Rescue.
