The St. Augustine Police Department told Historic City News local reporters that they were given the privilege of assisting 6 different families in making this Christmas Season a happy and memorable one for their children.
Coordinated by Cmdr. Michele Perry, police and civilian members of the St. Augustine Police Department donated their money, time and gifts to ensure these children had the necessities to stay warm this winter season, have beds to sleep in, and gifts to open on Christmas Day.
This morning officers and their family members delivered a full Christmas dinner and presents for each child in the six households. Chief Loran Lueders and his officers were able to spread the holiday cheer to the families and give the children items such as warm clothing, beds for the children who did not have them, blankets, baby cribs, as well as toys, books and arts supplies.
Thanks to the generosity of the St Francis House, Drift Ashore Resale, Designers Etc., the Missing Children Fund, and other St Augustine citizens, these families will have an unforgettable holiday season.
Recipients of the gifts were identified through established resources, such as Catholic Charities, and the St Johns County School Board.
