Rain holds off until 2:45 on last day of festival

Voted St. Augustine’s “Best Festival” for 9 years running, Historic City News has learned that this year’s Rhythm and Ribs Festival may entertain as many as 20,000 visitors, or more.

Mark Litzinger, Director of Financial Services for the City of St. Augustine and this year’s Rhythm and Ribs Chairman, said, “The Festival continues to grow each year and attracts music lovers and barbeque aficionados from all over the Southeast.”

The rain held off today until about 2:45 p.m., when some of the vendors began to pack up as this three-day spectacular came to an end.

St. Augustine Sunrise Rotary presents the festival each year with financial support from many area businesses. This year, proceeds from the event will benefit Boys & Girls Club, Council on Aging, St. Francis House, Learn to Read, Youth Leadership St. Johns, Character Counts, Pedro Menendez Scholarship, St. Joseph Academy, Kids Bridge, Imagination Library, Habitat for Humanity, Betty Griffin House, Rotaract Club, St. Johns County 4H Club, St. Augustine Little League and a scholarship fund at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind.
