The St. Johns Water Management District reminds Historic City News readers that, effective today, residential watering is allowed on Saturdays only for odd-numbered addresses or those with no number, and, on Sundays only for even-numbered addresses.
Although the St. Johns Water Management District’s watering restrictions apply, regardless of whether a local government has adopted an ordinance, both the City of St. Augustine and St. Johns County have local ordinances implementing the watering restrictions.
For information or to report violations of the local ordinances, contact:
City of St. Augustine: Todd J. Grant, (904) 209-4271, tgrant@ci.st-augustine.fl.us
St. Johns County: Code Enforcement, (904) 209-0734, codenf@sjcfl.us
There are some exceptions; however, residential watering restrictions apply to private wells and pumps, ground or surface water and water from public and private utilities.
Watering is limited to no more than 3/4 of an inch per zone per day and one hour per zone per day.
Twice-a-week watering will return the second Sunday in March; when Daylight Savings resumes.
