Debra Bulak contacted local reporters at Historic City News on behalf of Romanza St. Augustine to inform our readers that her organization will conduct a special Black History Tour through town on Saturday, June 19, 2010.
Howard (Xhabbo) Lewis, a locally licensed tour guide, will conduct the Romanza tour scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., departing from Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum aboard the Red Sightseeing Train.
The history of St. Augustine cannot be told in its entirety without its rich African heritage. This two-hour tour is designed to highlight over 400 years of African American history in our nation’s oldest city.
Among other historically significant locations, this Black History tour will include the Mission of Nombre de Dios and historic Lincolnville; then return to Ripley’s at noon.
Tickets are discounted for Romanza members to $15 per person, non-members; $20 per person and children 12 and younger; $10 per person.
The tour is limited to the first 50 reservations received. Checks should be made payable to: Romanza and mailed to 83 Bridge St., St. Augustine, FL 32084.
