The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office reported to Historic City News that they are investigating a robbery that occurred at the Winn Dixie Supermarket in Palm Coast on Saturday evening.
Deputies were called to the store in the Flagler Plaza on State Road 100 about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Witnesses said the man entered the store, chose an item to purchase and then walked to a checkout lane.
When he reached the cashier, he put his hand in his pocket, implying he had a weapon and then demanded cash. After the cashier complied, the man left the store and fled the scene, heading towards the east end of the plaza.
K-9 units along with Volusia County Air One searched the area, but failed to locate the suspect.
The robber is described as a black man, 6 feet 2 inches to 6 feet, 5 inches tall, with short black hair. He was wearing tan slacks, dress loafers and a tan full length coat.
“We are hoping that someone may have seen this man fleeing the scene or may have information on his identity,” said Sheriff Donald W. Fleming.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division at (386) 313-4911 or Crimestoppers at 888-277-TIPS (8477). You may remain anonymous and you may be eligible for a reward.
