Deputies with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol tell local reporters with Historic City News that they are continuing to investigate circumstances in connection with a driving rampage in Ponte Vedra Beach this past Friday morning.
The suspect, Andrea Lee Zampatti, 37, Canton, Georgia, is being held without bond on four felony charges: aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer; aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer; resisting arrest with violence; and aggravating fleeing and eluding police causing serious injury.
Zampatti is also facing additional charges as more victims are identified and come forward.
Zampatti was arrested Friday morning after a series of crashes and near misses on Ponte Vedra Blvd., and Palm Valley Rd.
Zampatti allegedly rammed the front of a patrol car and aimed her vehicle at a second deputy who was attempting to stop her. She struck at least four more vehicles and a pedestrian before coming to a stop.
Zampatti fled on foot and was captured after a brief chase.
The Sheriff’s Office is still seeking at least three additional victims who have not come forward. A deputy who was pursuing Zampatti witnessed a woman driving a scooter as well as two bicyclists that were struck; however they left the scene before being identified.
Those victims along with any others or witnesses are asked to contact the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office at 904-824-8304 so that additional charges could be signed.
