Historic City News reporters were informed by Dr. Richard Shortlidge that on Saturday, June 25, 2011, Florida Living History, Inc., and Fort Mose Historic State Park will honor the 271st anniversary of the “Battle of Bloody Mose”.
Re-enactors will present heritage interpretations and demonstrations from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., including:
• 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. – Step back in time to June 25, 1740 – Fort Mose and San Agustín, the day before the fateful battle; children will have the opportunity to become Colonial Ranger Scouts
• 11:30 a.m. – Re-enactment of the “Battle of Bloody Mose” by Spanish and British troops
A second performance will be held at 1:30 p.m.
• 3:30 p.m. – Meet the 18th-century living historians
Admission to this heritage Event is free. There is a Museum admission fee of $2.00 per adult; children age 5 and younger are free. Parking at Fort Mose Historic State Park is limited. Visitors are encouraged to use the free parking at the Old Jail (167 San Marco Ave.) and travel to and from the park via the complimentary shuttle service provided by Old Town Trolley Tours.
