Help keep the beach barefoot friendly Friday

Outreach Coordinator Aubrey Mulligan announced to local Historic City News reporters that Keepers of the Coast are recruiting volunteers for the “Keeping it Barefoot Friendly” beach clean-up tomorrow, Friday, December 16th.

This community-wide effort will be held at the A-Street Ramp at St Augustine Beach from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. All participants will be given a bag for trash, a bag for recycling, and a bag for cigarette butts.

This effort is the third, and final, in a series of partnered clean-ups with Barefoot Wine and Bubbly in an effort to help them reach their goal of 40 Florida beach clean-ups each year.

Barefoot Wine and Bubbly will have special event t-shirts for those volunteers 21 and older.

“Keepers of the Coast” is a local non-profit organization dedicated to promoting coastal stewardship and the conservation of coastal habitat.

“Join us at The Groove Cafe immediately following the clean-up where Barefoot Wine and Bubbly will be hosting an after-party from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.,” Mulligan told reporters. “Volunteers that attend the clean-up will be offered complimentary wine and appetizers.”

Keepers of the Coast has successfully prevented over 90,000 (and still counting) cigarette butts from entering our oceans. Continue to keep the right butts on the beach by winning the cigarette butt challenge. The winner receives a “Keepers of the Coast” limited edition t-shirt and bumper sticker. No pre-registration is required and volunteers may earn community service hours.
