Lindsey Phillips conveyed to local Historic City News reporters that the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument will be extending hours of operation to accommodate visitors to the fort throughout the summer.
Beginning Friday, May 27, 2011, and continuing through Labor Day Monday, September 5, 2011, the Castillo will be open from 8:30 AM until 6:15 PM with the last ticket being sold at 6:00 PM.
“There will be a variety of ranger programs and historic weapons demonstrations presented during the summer months,” Phillips told Historic City News.
Ranger programs are usually offered on the hour and historic weapons demonstrations at 10:30, 11:30, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30 and 4:30 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Admission is $6.00 for adults and children under 16 are free.
