Public Information Officer Mark Samson reported to Historic City News that the St. Augustine Police Department was called to the scene of a robbery at Whetstones Chocolates at 139 King Street last evening.
According to the police report, at 5:39 p.m., dispatchers received an E-911 call from the factory where an unknown white man walked in and demanded money from an employee.
The employee told police that they saw a small black gun tucked in the waistband of the robber’s pants.
The robber had the store employee place an undisclosed amount of cash in his backpack and he ordered the employee to the back of the business. The robber escaped the building through the back door.
Police are working from a description of a white man, about 6′ feet tall, thinly built, clean shaven wearing a dark sweatshirt, dark pants and sunglasses. Age is unknown.
Video from a neighboring business is being reviewed and the investigation is continuing at this time.
