As originally reported by Historic City News on January 3, 2011, the Halback Design Group, Inc., will hold a meeting tonight towards the goal for the improvement of the movement of people along Avenida Menendez (the bayfront) and South Castillo adjacent to Castillo de San Marcos National Monument.
The Halback Design Group will make the presentation which is being held at the Alligator Farm, 6:30 p.m. tonight, January 13th, in the Education Room — just north of the main attraction entrance.
Island business owner Bruce Maguire who has been organizing other similarly situated business owners along the Anastasia Boulevard corridor, says that, because of responses generated by his Association last month, many of the concerns voiced by merchants on the Island have been incorporated into the “Reconnecting the Castillo de San Marcos and the Bayfront” project, as well as the three options which have survived the initial study.
Maguire has arranged for Jeremy Marquis and Fred Halback to make a presentation tonight and has invited the property and business owners along Anastasia Boulevard to attend. Maguire is hoping that those participants concerned about the impact of the commission’s decisions on this project will become the activists of their Association in future decisions by the City.
According to Public Information Coordinator for the Department of Public Affairs with the City of St. Augustine, Cathy DuPont, it is expected that two or more city commissions may be in attendance at the presentation.
Detailed information on the project can be seen at www.halback.com/rcb/project.html
More information can be obtained from Jeremy Marquis, project manager for Halback, who can be reached by telephone at 904.825.6747.
