The Flagler College Community Lecture Series will kicks off with a talk by Dr. John Diviney on “17th Century Spanish Florida Franciscan Missions.” Diviney is the coordinator for the Spanish and Latin American Program in the college’s Liberal Studies Department. Diviney earned a B.A. and M.A. from Brigham Young University in International Relations and Portuguese and earned a second M.A. and Ph.D. in Spanish from Florida State University. He specializes in colonial Hispanic Florida history and literature and translation of colonial Spanish Florida historical documents from the period of 1700-1720.
