Donna Lueders, Executive Director of the St. Johns County Education Foundation informed Historic City News reporters that tomorrow, teachers in the local school district will be given donations of school supplies collected during this year’s “Tools 4 Schools” drive.
Donation boxes were set up at businesses all across the district during the past month to collect supplies for this week’s event.
“We are so happy to be able to give the teachers an opportunity to have the supplies they need in the classroom,” Lueders told Historic City News. “I am delighted that the community stepped up to the plate and donated so many supplies.”
According to an announcement from the Foundation, teachers will be given “Depot Dollars” when they arrive at the event being held at Pacetti Bay Middle School. Using the scrip, teachers and schools will be able to purchase the items they need; based on their relative value.
“Tools 4 Schools” is the only countywide school supply drive in the area that directly benefits teachers and students of the St. Johns County School District. These donations will be available to the teachers of all K-12 grades and subjects, as well as the schools’ clinics that currently receive no state funding.
