Teen Scary Story Contest BEGINS
Thursday, September 1 @ 10 am – Teens ages 12 through 18 are invited to participate in this year’s scary story contest. Enter to win a Barnes & Noble gift certificate. Guidelines and entry forms will be available September 1st. All Entries must be submitted by 6 pm on Friday, September 30!
Author Talk, Marie Vernon’s: “Graceland Express”
Saturday, September 3 @ 2 pm – Climb aboard the Graceland Express for the time of your life! Join author Marie Vernon, as she discusses her newest novel and the adventures of Vangie O’Toole, her cat and the Elvis-4-Ever Fan Club. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and Ms. Vernon will sign books following the program.
Teen Forum
Tuesday, September 6 @ 6 pm – Hey teens! Want to Make a Difference @ Your Library? Provide input for teen programs! Light Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library.
Middle Eastern Dance Class
Saturday, September 10 @ 2 pm – Join us for an afternoon of dance and culture with instructor Liz Rizzolo. This class is FREE and no previous experience is required.
Remembrance of September 11th Storytime
Monday, September 12 @ 10 am – Children and their families are invited to join the Southeast Branch Library in welcoming some of St. Johns County’s local heroes. Library Director, Debra Rhodes Gibson will read picture books in memory of the fallen on September 11th, 2001.
St. Augustine Travel Club presents: “Northern Italy”
Monday, September 12 @ 3 pm – Come learn with us about the wonderful world of Northern Italy. Hosts Peter Dytrych and Mary Ellen Page will discuss all that Italy has to offer.
Women’s Personal Safety Class
Tuesday, September 13 @ 6:30 pm – The St. Johns Sheriff’s Office offers and instructs this course. Participants MUST attend all three dates. Become more aware and learn self-defense techniques to lessen the likelihood of becoming a victim. The final class will involve practical learning and application of self-defense using full contact with a “role-playing aggressor” in a “red man suit.” Contact Deputy Diana Bryant at 904-810-6694 or dibryant@sjso.org as registration is required.
Movie Night

Emotional Freedom Techniques Workshop
Saturday, September 17 @ 1:30 pm – Join Reverend Debra Sue Lynn as she discusses Emotional Freedom Techniques which combine ancient Chinese Acupuncture and modern-day psychology to provide a safe, simple, non-invasive (no needles) do-it-yourself healthcare alternative.

Author Book Talk: “Matanzas Bay”
Tuesday, September 27 @ 2 pm – Friends of the Library proudly presents a book talk with local author Victor DiGenti. DiGenti is best known for his fantasy series, Windrusher. His new book, Matanzas Bay, written under the pen name Parker Francis, makes a leap to suspense fiction. Set on our own city, St. Augustine, the story follows a private detective who gets involved in an archaeological dig and unearths things that bring up ancient evils as well as his own past.
