Michael Edward Green escaped capture during a traffic stop late yesterday evening after officers say he fled from the area of South Dixie Highway and Aviles Drive in St. Augustine; according to word received by Historic City News from sheriff’s spokesman, Kevin Kelshaw.
“The 32 year-old St. Johns County man is being sought on numerous charges,” Kelshaw told local Historic City News reporters. “As Green made his escape, he left behind a backpack that contained materials used to manufacture methamphetamine.”
The passenger in the vehicle, 33 year-old Jennifer Lee Woodruff who lives at 2 Cartagena Court, attempted to flee, as well; but, was captured and arrested.
Woodruff was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell and production of methamphetamine. She is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
According to records at the St. Johns County Detention Facility, Green has been arrested numerous times by deputies and the St. Augustine Police Department; dating back to December of 1993.
When Green was arrested in April of this year, he gave his address as 6489 Belluno Isle in St Augustine, and, during his most recent reported arrest in June, he said that he lives at 8550 White Tower Road in Hastings.
Green was last arrested for a variety of crimes; ranging from misdemeanor shoplifting to felony drug possession, production and possession of drug equipment, felony kidnapping and sexual assault — a life felony.
Green should be considered an extreme danger to the community, as “mobile meth labs” are exceedingly volatile. Based on experience, Kelshaw said Green shows no conscious about where or when he cooks the drug.
