Executive Director Jamie Alvarez and Martha McClintock, volunteer chair of the Programs and Events committee for First America Foundation, greeted guests and media this afternoon to show off their new logo and upgraded website.
The First America Foundation held the ceremonies at the River House dining room at the Council on Aging on Marine Street.
The Foundation, led by Chairman Don Wallis and two boards of directors, has contracted with the City of St. Augustine to research, develop, plan, fund and execute four commemoration programs featuring the significant events relevant to the founding and subsequent history of the City of St. Augustine.
The new logo design unveiled this afternoon will be the “brand” of the 450th Commemoration which will identify sponsors and other participant partners in the various commemoration events.
The website for the Foundation is http://myfirstamerica.org
First America Foundation, however, has been contracted by the City to provide four separate commemoration programs, not just the 450th.
In the year 2012, there will be a commemoration of the Spanish Constitution of 1812, as memorialized by the monument located in the Plaza de la Constitucion in Historic St. Augustine.
In the year 2013, there will be a commemoration of the 1513 landing of Ponce de Leon in Florida.
In the year 2014, there will be a commemoration of the Civil Rights Movement in St. Augustine of 1964.
Culminating in the year 2015, when there will be commemoration of the 1565 founding of St. Augustine.
