When the Historic Architectural Review Board of the City of St. Augustine convenes Thursday, Flagler College will ask for a “Certificate of Demolition” and an opinion of appropriateness to build a 20,000 square foot classroom building along Cordova Street.
The college recently demolished the two-story building at 63 Cordova Street and construction is underway on the new and expanded Flagler College Welcome Center.
Flagler College is now seeking approval to demolish its radio station facility located within the City of St. Augustine National Register Historic District.
The building at issue was completed in 1956. It is located at the corner of Cordova and Cuna Streets and once housed the local offices of Florida Power and Light Company.
The demolition application states the radio station is “a non-contributing structure”.
If you are planning to attend — the Historic Architectural Review Board meeting will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday and will be held in the Alcazar Room; on the first floor of City Hall, located at 75 King Street in St. Augustine.
