The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office reported to Historic City News that a hit-and-run driver was taken into custody Thursday night; after leaving the scene of a collision near the intersection of SR-312 and Old Moultrie Road.
Deputy Sheriff Aaron L. Braddock spotted a vehicle traveling southbound on Old Moultrie Road that matched the description given of a silver SUV with a “Salt Life” sticker on the back window, front end damage, being driven by a blonde white female.
The vehicle was driven by 49 year-old Lisa Marie Sitton; a US Airways flight attendant who lives at 144 E Jayce Way in St Augustine. When asked by Deputy Braddock, Sitton told the deputy that she was the driver of the vehicle that hit the other vehicle. Sitton felt it was not very important since “it was only a bump”.
Deputy Lapkovitch completed a traffic crash report at the scene and issued Sitton two traffic citations, which were for careless driving (ticket # 8317-RIQ) and leaving the scene of a crash with damage (ticket # 8318-RIQ).
When the contents of Sitton’s purse were searched for contraband, prior to transporting her to the county jail, deputies discovered three 10mg Hydrocodone pills and fifteen 20mg Dextroamphetamine pills for which Sitton could not produce a prescription. Sitton told deputies that she needs a lot of different medications and cannot always get or keep a prescription for them.
Sitton was booked into the St. Johns County Detention Facility just after 5:30 last night and was released today after posting a $46000 appearance bond.
