The City of Palm Coast invited Historic City News readers to visit for their Arbor Day 5k Run-Walk and 1 mile “Flutter Run” being held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Central Park in Town Center.
Registration for the run-walk opens at 7:30 am with the race starting at 8 am. Awards presentation is scheduled at 9 a.m.
The Arbor Day festivity will be held from 11:00 a.m. ‘til 4:00 p.m. and kicks off with a butterfly release. Other activities throughout the day include a live band, food, entertainment, activities for children, a butterfly tent, and tree raffles throughout the day.
A twist to the event is that a tree will be provided in exchange for the donation of a canned good or nonperishable food item, dog food, or school supplies.
Looking ahead to Friday, May 13, 2011, the “Relay for Life 2011” will be held beginning at 8:00 a.m. through Saturday, May 14, 2011 ‘til 1:00 p.m. at Central Park in Town Center. The fundraiser includes food, face painters, crafts, etc. with proceeds to benefit cancer research.
