Humane Society pin-up-paws calendar

St. Augustine Humane Society’s Operations Director, Carolyn Smith, updated local Historic City News reporters about its newest fundraising program to support its mission to prevent pet overpopulation through affordable spay neuter programs.

The organization’s “Pin Up Paws” calendar fundraiser allows donors to submit a photo of their pet to be featured in the 2012 calendar. There is no charge to submit the photos and friends can vote for the pet for the owners to win prizes. Visit the website for more information and to view official rules.

“It’s fun and easy to participate and demonstrate how much you care about the pets and citizens of St. Johns County,” Smith told Historic City News. “The finished calendar will remind us of our many favorite furry friends.”

Prizes include items such as professional photos of the pet at historic landmarks in St. Augustine, gift certificates from the local Columbia Restaurant, free copies of the 2012 calendar, tote bags, and commemorative paw print tiles by Westside Studio in St. Augustine, among others.

The Humane Society is located at 1665 Moultrie Road in St. Augustine. Business hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9 am until 4 pm, and Sunday from 1 pm until 4 pm. Closed Monday. For more information call 904.829.2737

Approximately 2,000 colorful, full-size calendars will be printed to depict the human-animal bond. The calendars will be distributed as thank you gifts to calendar photo fundraiser participants who raise over 50 votes, donors of $100 or more over the past year, and St. Augustine Humane Society volunteers.

The remaining calendars will be available for sale in October with an online purchase, by phone, or at the Humane Society location. All proceeds from submissions and vote donations, and sales will benefit the programs and services of the St. Augustine Humane Society.
