Sgt. Chuck Mulligan reported to Historic City News that this afternoon, law enforcement personnel from St. Johns County will participate in the Torch Run for Special Olympics.
“This annual run kicks off our support and involvement with Special Olympics,” Mulligan said.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics will assemble in the front parking lot of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office located on Lewis Speedway — across from the Richard O. Watson Judicial Complex.
The charitable run will begin today, Monday, April 25, 2011 at 4:00 p.m.
The course of law enforcement officers, civilian law enforcement personnel and their families will run from the Sheriff’s Office, proceeding south on US-1 onto San Marco Avenue, continuing to the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument.
Sheriff David B. Shoar told Historic City News, “This agency has always been a supporter of Special Olympics and today’s Torch Run is just one way that our agency’s members can show their enthusiasm and raise awareness for this worthwhile cause.”
