Disbarred lawyer-sex-offender living here

Historic City News has learned that a 68 year-old man who was admitted to practice law in Tampa in 1970, but was later convicted of two counts of sexual battery against a child, is currently living in St. Augustine South as he serves his court-ordered term of community monitoring as a registered sexual offender.

On September 9, 2004, David Russell Stahl, who was 61 years-old at the time, was convicted by a Hillsborough County jury for committing two (2) counts of lewd assault and sexual battery on a child over 12 years-old and under 16 years-old; in violation of F.S. 800.04(3). Stahl was designated a “sexual offender” and was sentenced to six years’ of prison, to be followed by nine years’ of probation.

After arguing for a series of delays and objections, The Florida Bar, acting under order of the Supreme Court of Florida dated Monday, April 30, 2007, disbarred Tampa lawyer David Russell Stahl for ten years; and, thereafter until his civil rights are restored — effective retroactively to January 12, 2005. Further, the Court entered a judgment in favor of The Florida Bar for recovery of costs from Stahl in the amount of $6,706.22.

Stahl was born on January 17, 1943, and has made 363 Lobelia Road in Saint Augustine, Saint Johns County, FL 32086-6515 his permanent address; according to a report received by Historic City News from the Florida Department of Corrections.

David Russell Stahl, who is now under the authority and supervision of the Department of Corrections, is a 6′ tall white male weighing about 189 pounds.
