Dear Editor:
The delegate selection caucus to select the St. Johns County Republican delegates for Presidency 5 will occur Thursday night, July 14th.
Doors will open beginning at 6:30 for the social and registration for the caucus to begin.
This is an open meeting and everyone who has registered as a delegate should bring their voter registration card and their check book or credit card.
Selection of the delegates occurs in two manners:
75% of the delegates will be selected by lottery.
25% of the delegates will be selected by a committee composed of:
-Chairman Harlan Mason
-State Committeewoman Becky Reichenberg
-State Committeeman Randy CovingtonTwo other members will be appointed by the Chairman.
As delegates register, they will be assigned a number for the lottery. As numbers are selected by the selection committee, selected delegates will be directed to a table to verify their number. At that time they will have to pay the $ 175.00 delegate fee.
Alternates
You may register as an alternate. The fee is $ 125.00. Should one of the delegates drop out for any reason, you would have priority to take their place. If you were selected to attend in place of a primary delegate, you would have to pay the additional $ 50.00 fee immediately in order to take that position.
Alternates are welcomed to attend the event as an Alternate without voting privileges.
We encourage all of you that intend to be delegates to begin researching the stands and records and positions of all the Candidates.
The official candidates expected to attend include:
Michele Bachman
Herman Cain
Newt Gingrich
Jon Huntsman
Ron Paul
Tim Pawlenty
Rick Santorum
Mitt Romney has announced that he will not attend the event.
This is a seminal moment in American History. The Republican Party must select the most qualified candidate and unite to defeat the Socialist Obama Administration. Thank you for your patriotism and commitment to seeing that we are successful in this mission.
Lane Harlan Mason, Chairman
St. Johns County Republican Executive Committee
