Local firefighters take 1st in MS Mud Run

St. Johns County Fire Rescue spokesman Jeremy Robshaw reported to Historic City News that several firefighters recently won 1st Place honors in an annual competition event hosted by the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The MS Mud Run is a team-oriented 10k race of sorts through many different obstacles and challenges most of which include mud or water in some capacity.

“Racing teams must all complete the obstacle together prior to moving to the next challenge, so the team aspect of the challenge is highly emphasized,” Robshaw said.

The team of St. Johns County Fire Rescue firefighters “Out to Getcha” hailing from several A-shift stations consisted of Stuart Howell, Luke Nehemias, Russell Burney, Chris Ervin and Trey Peck.

“Not only is this a great event that raises money for a great cause,” St. Johns County Fire Chief Bobby Hall told Historic City News, “but, it also is a unique training opportunity for our firefighters that keeps them in shape, active and prepared to respond to a wide array of emergencies.”

The local group trained for the competitive division of the race and took home 1st Place honors with a finish time of 1:10:10.1.

“Congratulations on the hard work and great job representing St. Johns County Fire Rescue,” Hall said.
