Yesterday evening, St. Johns County deputies reported to Historic City News that following their interview of a 36 year-old St. Augustine man, he was placed under arrest and charged with sexual assault upon a child over the age of 12; a second degree felony.
The Special Victims Unit was notified by the girl’s parents that their daughter, a minor child, has identified Michael Sean Taylor, who resides at 3380 Usina Road in St. Augustine, as having sexually assaulted her on several occasions over the past two years.
According to Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw, the father of the victim confronted Taylor immediately upon learning of the accusations. He told deputies that Taylor offered to pay the victim $200 a month until she turns 18 in exchange for not reporting the incident.
According to the victim, Taylor showed up at her residence while she was babysitting and sexually assaulted her in December 2010 or January of this year.
Taylor was located at his place of employment last night around 7:00 p.m. and brought in for questioning. Detectives arrested Taylor and he was booked into the St. Johns County Detention Facility where, today, he remains in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
